After practicing the Positive Image/WSP/IPA Global Jet Mod #5+ at the 4/10 mile speedplant at Susquehanna earlier in the week, the team was excited to build on numerous top 5 finishes in 2009. Starting 8th in the heat Craig worked his way up 5th which would be his starting position in the 20-lap main. Starting inside row three Craig would hold his position for the first half of the race and eventually work under the #28 of Tony Quade for fourth. Multiple-feature winner Russell Erwin ran third and developed an engine problem putting the 5+ into third with about 9 laps to go. Leaders Tony Garber (71) and Bret Hamilton (1st) would put on a spectacular duel about a straightaway ahead, but with the feature running caution free it was difficult to close the gap. Craig held off late race charges from reigning VMS track champion Dan Arnold and feature winner Eric Erwin to come home 3rd at the checkers. "Finishing up 2009 we finally seemed to get past our ignition problems and we would have had a top-5 at the Nationals but we broke the third link in the car. Bret Hamilton has helped us with the setup for the four-link/Z-link which really takes some time to get used to. But it seems that this car and setup really like the soft E-mod tire and extra horsepower with the four-barrel carburetor. We are really looking forward to our next run at Potomac!" Ramich stated. Ole' Yellow Gone But Not Forgotten May 14, 2010 - Fairfax, VAFor the first time in over 10 years the Positive Image race team will field a car without the customary yellow paint scheme. According to driver/owner Craig "Big Daddy" Ramich, "It was time to change things up, and we've been wanting to do this wrap for a season and a half." With two primary sponsors bowing out before the start of the season, Positive Image has stepped up to help the team. Longtime partner WSP Environment & Energy and new sponsor Independent Project Analysis (IPA) are onboard as associates for 2010. "Without our marketing partners none of this is possible" Craig added. "We had a great event at IPA headquarters in Ashburn and we continue to look for more sponsors throughout the season." Bulbeater, a manufacturer of fluorescent bulb compaction devices, will also be supporting the team this season. One new logo on the car this season will be the "SD and cross" in memory of Stella Deater, Craig's mother-in-law. Stella recently lost her battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease) after four years and the SD logo will adorn the 5+ for the 2010 season and beyond. Stella was a big fan of racing and we hope that in some small way this logo will honor her...
